Lougheed House is looking forward to a great year in 2010!
Lougheed House is looking for a part-time, Historic Interpreter to work weekends and occasional evenings in the beautifully restored, national historic site. The ideal candidate will be a well spoken, enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with the public and sharing a piece of unique Calgary History. The Interpreter will take the public on one hour house tours as well as set up and lead interpretive stations in the house. Lougheed House is looking forward to a great year in 2010. Renovations will commence at the beginning of January for one month. After the renovations, the house, gift shop, and restaurant will all be operating as normal offering a variety of exciting, historical, and educational workshops and school programs. Calgary's Grand Story recounts the history of Calgary from 1912 to Alberta's 100th birthday in 2005 from the vantage point of two heritage landmarks, the Grand Theater and the Lougheed Building, two of Calgary's most important and historic buildings. By mixing business and cultural histories, a complete view of local history can be explored and illuminated for a fascinating urban biography that explores the city's history in the twentieth century.
Come in to Lougheed House and warm up by having lunch or brunch in the Restaurant, and then explore our quaint little Treasures Gift Shop. You can shop for a unique Christmas, or birthday gift. It’s ideal for shopping without the hordes of shoppers you get at the malls, with free parking!

Join us for two seasonal workshops at Lougheed House this December! A Family Christmas on Saturday, December 5th will let parents and their children create different ornaments for the Christmas tree in a Victorian style ($45 for parent with child). Victorian Eco Christmas will combine modern re-cycling awareness with old-fashioned decorating style! Create ornaments with natural materials that are sensitive to the environment ($55/participant). Keep watching for more historic themed workshops!
What a way to show off the best of Lougheed House. Christmas All Through The House was a spectacular showcase for the Calgary Design Group and the wonderful sponsors who provided furniture, artifacts, rugs and décor items. We had hundreds of visitors over the five days of the event, and we raised significant money to put towards our programming. We’ll definitely do this again in 2010.
Lougheed House and Calgary Design Group are proud to premiere their Christmas fundraising event, Christmas all through the House. Celebrate the Christmas season with a dazzling display of magnificent creations reminiscent of Christmas through the decades since 1890.Lougheed House is hosting Christmas all through the House from Wednesday, November 18 to Sunday, November 22, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Guests will be fascinated by the history, marvel at the breathtaking decor and rejoice in numerous other magical Christmas activities. Admission for adults $15.00, students/seniors $10.00, and children under 12 are FREE.

Experience a Roaring 20's Christmas by designers Dianna Barry, Suzette Toews, and Odessa Mendonca, or sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of a 1942 Christmas Concert by designer Kevin Gray. Celebrate the three wise men from the East in the room themed Stars of the Orient by designer Mickey Foulds, or snuggle up by the fire and enjoy a Cosy Fireside Story Time by designers Janet Farnham and George Martin. Whatever Christmas means to you, join us and celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season at Lougheed House.
Other Christmas activities include a visit from a Victorian Santa, carol singers, pianists and Christmas crafts for children and adults alike. Visit our antique photo studio, watch magnificent ice sculptures being carved, enjoy a festive refreshment, and seasonal shopping atLougheed House's Gift Shop and much more.
All funds raised go towards the restoration and development of Lougheed House, a National Historic Site. Your support means that we can enhance public programs and exhibits, and continue our curriculum based School Programs for children grades one through six.
